A collab between loverofscythe and I! Our pokemon gijinka characters Eien (Mew) and Yokunen (Jirachi) for a Tanabata festival art challenge @ Pokimono on dA.
I always have a lot of fun with art nouveau-esq art! The flowing fabrics, the heavy, intricate lines—for how intricate it ends up looking, it’s simple and calming. You can really lose yourself when creating the borders and lines.
Yokunen is holding a bamboo branch, upon which wish tags are hung during Tanabata. As the wish granting pokemon, and the patron of Tanabta in the pokemon world, it made perfect sense for Yokunen!
Eien is holding a red camellia flower which, if I researched correctly, means both “in love” as well as “having died with grace.” For Eien, who’s existence consists of constant cycles of dying and being reborn since the beginning of time, as well as their love for Yokunen, it just made sense!
The little mousey clefairy at the top is Eien’s spiritual pet/familiar, Tsuki (short for tsuki no usagi)! The Stars, obviously, represent Yokunen, the star pokemon, and the Sun represents Eien, who is always warm and giving to the beings they created.
Enough of my prattling, though! I hope you like it!
